Rates among those banks are realtively the same. Excluding HSBC, if those five big Canadian banks denied any dividends in this global Recession period (some how getting rebound...), that would be like a "slap in the face"!!! Do you check how long haven't they (those five banks ) decreased their dividends?? mostly more than 50 years...
In this kind of market, all the financial instituations are trying to relieve people's nerve...no matter how profitable (or loss) they are, most corporations lost nearly half of their market value compared to their peak value (2007)...it's all coming from people's fears.....It needs the "guts" to put more pressure on people's nerves...
just want other people notice the dividend is noncumlative. It is a big deal for prefer share. It is not necessary to say for all the bank will declear the dividend yoy.
By the way, do you still think the western banking system still has face?
can we recall when is the the canadian big five issuing the new share simultaneously?
what is risk exprosure for Royal bank in Madoff fraud?
when is the last time we see city bank in 90 cents?
Do we still use the term "investment bank"?
If people want some fixed incoming fund stream for the long-term, I think the common stcok China perto or China shore perto will be better choice. They declear sweet dividend yoy and have big growth potential.
just my 2 cents:biggrin:
